The document “The Guide for Investors in the Electricity Sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina” was prepared in the period 2015-2019. within the project of the American Agency for International Development Project Energy Investment Activity - USAID EIA Project.

“The Guide” is the first such document in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Its main purpose is to make it easier for new (and existing) investors to navigate through the complex system of administrative licensing that exists in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“The Guide” for Investors contains extensive information on the necessary permits for the development of electricity facilities and competent licensing institutions at all levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina, except the Brčko District of BiH, as well as a description of relevant procedures.

Representatives of all competent institutions that issue permits required for the construction of electricity facilities in BiH, which took place within the main working group and subgroups for individual sectors, participated in the development of the Guide.

Some of the information that investors can find in this Guide are:

  • Overview of all permits and competent institutions for issuing individual permits,
  • Schemes of the procedure for issuing individual licenses,
  • Supporting documents attached to the license application,
  • Description of the permitting procedure,
  • Obligations of investors,
  • Remedies
  • As well as other useful information.
