International assistance projects for agriculture, food and rural development in Bosnia and Herzegovina are coordinated by the Sector for Agriculture, Food, Forestry and Rural Development within the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina regularly organizes Donor Information Meetings and prepares the Annual Report on Donor Assistance showing donors active in Bosnia and Herzegovina and determines their contribution to the sector in that year.

A significant role in the planning and coordination of international assistance projects is provided by the Working Group for Planning and Coordinating International Assistance in the Agriculture, Food and Rural Development Sector, which has been established with the aim of realizing Measure 1.8. of the first priority area of  Bosnia and Herzegovina Operational Program for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development in BiH (2008-2011) - Working Group.

The Working Group is guided by the recommendations from the Annual Progress Report of Bosnia and Herzegovina prepared by the European Commission, key principles of the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness[1] which has been endorsed by Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2010, strategic documents of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the principles of sector wide approach applied to programming within the framework of EC Instruments for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA II).

The Working group consists of representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water management of the Republic of Srpska, Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry and the Department for Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Brčko District BiH government, the Ministry of Finance and Treasury of BiH, the Food Safety Agency of BiH, BiH Plant Health Protection Administration, the Veterinary Office of BiH, the Office for Harmonization and Coordination of Payment System, Directorate for European Integration and the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency of BiH, and representatives of joint associations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republic of Srpska, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina as non-governmental organizations.

The regular meetings of the Working Group and the coordination meetings of donors in the agricultural sector are organized and chaired by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH.
